Grace’s Story

After the death of her father, Grace had to drop out of school as she could no longer afford the fees. She joined a little bit of HOPE's apprenticeship scheme and was partnered with a senior hairdresser who provided her with training and employment.

Thanks to the ongoing generosity of our supporters in the UK, we are also able to provide apprentices with their own tools, and Grace was therefore able to open a salon once she'd completed her training.

Grace is now able to look after herself and her mother, and she invests in commercial rice growing and owns two cows and four goats, which also provide her with an income. In the future, she hopes to expand her salon into a training centre, buy a plot of land and build a house to provide for her future family and children.

“I thank a little bit of HOPE for supporting me through the training to learn hairdressing and salon management. It has helped me to develop and improve my economic status as I now run my own salon. God bless you.”
